Fitness for moms, we are here to help! Mary Beth, President of StrollerFit
If there is one thing that every mom needs, it is more energy. If there is one thing that all moms want to get rid of it is the low belly sag that pregnancy leaves behind! Good news, StrollerFit is here to help! And if we can do it SO CAN YOU!
I have to admit that even though I am a fitness professional I spent the first 30 years of my life being anything but fit. AS I approached my 30th birthday I realized that I need to change a few things about my life and that if I just sat around waiting for the world to make me happy I would be waiting a heck of a long time. So off I went, lost 50lbs, quit smoking and started exercising. Over the course of a year I overhauled my life by making small changes monthly. Two years after smoking and losing weight I crossed the finish line at Ironman! I knew that day that if I could complete a 140 mile race I could do anything I put my mind to.
I really have led two lives, one before fitness and one after fitness. I have to say the life after getting fit and staying fit is one i much prefer to lead. Don't get me wrong, the first 30 years were not wasted, just a bit misdirected! But I learned many valuable lessons from those years.
One of the most important things I learned is the difference that fitness and strength can bring to your life. I also know how difficult it can be to stay on track and fit it all in. Afterall I have an 18month old and a 3 year old. I am a full time working mom and sometimes I am not sure how the days fly by so quickly. But one thing I do know is that I will always make time for fitness. Why? It makes me feel good, gives me more energy then I know what to do with, relieves stress, helps me sleep when i have the chance to (teething babies do not make sleeping a regular activity!), lowers my risk of disease, releases much need endorphins to lift my mood and most importantly make me a good role model for my kids!
No kidding, every day my 3 year old asks me if I am going to exercise! How do you say no to that!
So 10 years later, having just turned 40, I am in much better shape than at 20. I have also made fitness my career and for the past 3 years have focused solely on pre and post natal fitness. I have watched c-section surgeries ( and I have had 2 of them myself)so that I know exactly how to help women recover. I gained almost 50lbs with both pregnancies and found ways to take it all off and keep it off by developing exercise programs that are specific to alleviating ALL of the changes that pregnancy brings to the body, I teach women how to fit fitness into thier busy lives and bond with their children at the same time and I love my job!
If you have a question, need suggestions, have special circumstances like having twins or triplets, need to know what to do, what to eat, if how you are feeling is normal, want to know how diet and exercise can reduce post partum depression, want to learn how to lose that low belly sag, what sports bras are best for nursing moms who want to exercise... we are here to answer those questions!
Just beleive in yourself and beleive that you can regain control of your body and that with just a little know how and some follow through, those skinny jeans will return to your closet and need not to be banished to the basement!
